Gator By The Bay

If you are into Zydeco and Cajun this was the place for you. My friend Shelly and I went to the Zydeco and Blues Festival called Gator By The Bay today. What a great time we had. Stan wasn't interested in going so he made the Costco run for me, what a guy.

We were fortunate enough to get parking on Harbor Island not far from the Festival. Our walk took us right along the bay with a view of our beautiful city.

Let's eat some crawfish and shake a leg ;-)

As we hit the event the dance lessons had just started so we danced a little to work up an appetite.

With a few basic steps under our belts, we were ready for the big time and hit the music venues. See the young man on the left playing the guitar.

Dang, that guy can play.

Music on the bay, a nice sunny day. Life is good.

To make it even better a mess of crawfish.

Crawfish

We asked some people that looked like they knew what they were doing how to eat them. We were told to just rip those babies apart, suck the juices from the head and body. Peel off the first three ridges from the tail so you can get the meat out, but watch out for the poop. A lot of work for very little meat but the flavor was great, nice and spicy and juicy.

Checked out more food stands.

Decided on some gator on a stick and Jambalaya. I wasn't all that crazy about the Jambalaya, it was a little greasy and the sausage in it was bland. The gator was great, it had a nicely seasoned crunchy coating and tender meat.

The last music stage we went to was so much fun, as were the rest. People were milling around on the dance floor, some dancing and some were clapping and tapping their feet to the music. There was an older couple, o.k. elderly couple, out on the floor. He had a cane and she was sitting on one of those walkers that have a seat, when all of a sudden, she gets up from the walker and starts dancing up a storm. They were the hit of the dance floor. They are such a cute couple and watching them have such a good time warmed my heart.

God bless them, whoever they are.

Dance on.
